Riot Games has posted two new job openings on its careers page in an effort to recruit new hires for the development of a League of Legends cinematic universe. Both the Global Head of Live Action TV and the Global Head of Live Action film positions are looking to hire in Los Angeles, CA, and both mention the planned development of a cinematic universe for Riot's flagship multiplayer online battle arena.

The League of Legends cinematic universe is mentioned in the job description of the Global Head of Live Action Film position as follows: “You will lead the film creative development team and all work related to the development of feature films for the League of Legends cinematic universe and new franchises." The description for Global Head of Live Action TV is nearly identical sans the focus on TV in place of film.

Throughout the past few years, Riot Games has expanded the League of Legends IP beyond the game itself. Games directly within the League of Legends IP like TeamFight Tactics and Legends of Runeterra have been rolled out across the past few years, but other efforts such as the creation of a virtual K-pop group called K/DA that features League of Legends champions in a collaboration with real artists, and a hip-hop group called True Damage in a similar mold.

Fans have been discussing the possibility of a League of Legends movie for the better part of the last decade, but with 154 champions and champion number 155 on the way, the amount of stories that can be told via film and TV are endless, and most likely, will entertwine with one another.

No specific information has been made available regarding any initial installments in the League of Legends cinematic universe at this time.
