Team Vitality has added Juš "Crownshot" Marušič to its starting roster for the 2021 League of Legends Championship Series Spring Split. The AD carry is slated to make his debut for Vitality in the team's first match in week 4 against Excel Esports on Friday, February 12.
Despite an impressive sophomore season on SK Gaming in 2020, Crownshot found himself without any offers from LEC teams or North American teams competing in the League of Legends Championship Series. Crownshot then opted for a change of pace and signed to Gen.G as a content creator alongside former Fnatic mid laner Tim "Nemesis" Lipovsek and former Gen.G top laner Lee "CuVee" Seong-jin, but will not be traveling to South Korea with Nemesis after his VIT signing.
Throughout the first three weeks of the 2021 LEC Summer Split, Team Vitality had been starting Markos "Comp" Stamkopoulos in the AD carry position as the team had throughout 2020, but Crownshot was desired by the team for his strong voice. If Crownshot has retained his form from 2020 as well, it is difficult to argue the signing is anything but an all-around upgrade.
Crownshot could also be a boon to the development of support Labros "labrov" Papoutsakis, who won the Rookie of the Split award in the 2020 LEC Summer Split despite Vitality's 7-11 9th place finish.
Whatever the change ended up being, Team Vitality needed to shake something up. VIT is currently tied in last place with a 1-6 record in the 2021 LEC Summer Split, its sole win coming against Misfits. After his debut on Team Vitality against Excel Esports and the likes of AD carry Patrik "Patrik" Jírů, Crownshot will face off against his former team SK Gaming in VIT's second match of week 4.
