[LCK Today] Liiv SANDBOX climbs out of last place; DWG KIA takes first place with Ghost scoring a pentakill

On day 20 of the 2021 LCK Spring split, Liiv SANDBOX took on Hanwha Life Esports in the first match of the day, while DWG KIA took on DRX in the second match. Both LSB and DK took a 2-0 victory over their respective opponents, which enabled LSB to climb out of last place in the standings, while DK climbed to the very top of the standings.

LSB won game 1 through the top half of the map. Park “Summit” Woo-tae’s Gnar and Yoo “FATE” Su-hyeok’s Zoe both had lane priority, which enabled Kim “Croco” Dong-beom’s Nidalee to run rampant. Not only did LSB take all the objectives on the map, they won teamfight after teamfight to snowball the game and take game 1 in a dominant fashion.

Game 2 was more or less a rerun of game 1, as Summit managed to get ahead with an early dive with Croco’s Nidalee. Croco also successfully ganked mid lane, killing Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon’s Viktor in the process to get ahead. Despite HLE’s bot lane capitalizing on LSB’s macro mistakes, LSB still took a dominant victory to close out the series.

In the following match, the jungler for DRX, Hong “Pyosik” Chang-hyeon, pulled out Dr. Mundo, once again. Game 1 looked pretty even, until DK won a huge dragon teamfight to tip the scales in their favor. Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu’s Pantheon and Jang “Ghost” Yong-jun’s Kai’Sa scaled well into the mid-late game, providing much aid in the team’s victory.

DK managed to get massively ahead early in game 2. Despite DRX proactively taking fights early, DK answered their aggression with precision and composure. The game was very one-sided for DK until the 21 minute mark, when DRX miraculously stole Baron Nashor. However, the gap was too much for DRX to close, and with Ghost even scoring a pentakill at the very last teamfight, DK closed out game 2 in under 28 minutes.
