On Nov. 25th, kt Rolster announced the acquisition of the former top laner for DRX, Choi “Doran” Hyeon-joon. His competitive career started back in 2019 as a top laner for Griffin, subbing in for Choi “Sword” Sung-won. He then joined DRX in 2020, alongside Kim “cvMax” Dae-ho, and Jung “Chovy” Ji-hoon as the starting top laner for the team.
The general consensus on his performance in his early rookie days were deemed to be inconsistent. Yet, Doran continued to gain experience through many matches in his career, and at Worlds, he’s proven himself that he can compete with some of the best players in the world.
KT’s 2020 season didn’t go as well as fans hoped. Finishing 4th and 6th in Spring and Summer split respectively, their dreams of making it to Worlds fell short. With this acquisition news being the first official announcement from KT, will they be able to find the right piece of the puzzle to improve in 2021?
