Rensga Harumi becomes first woman to compete in an official LoL Esports match in Brazil

The Brazilian League of Legends esports scene welcomes Gabriela “Harumi” Gonçalves, the first woman to take on an official LoL Esports stage in Brazil, as part of Rensga Esports.

In a Twitter statement, Rensga announced their roster against Falkol: “Cowboys and Cowgirl have been locked in for today’s duel. Harumi will be starting, go, girl!” As part of Circuito Desafiante (Challenger Circuit), a tier 2 competition in Brazil, Harumi will compete for the team in the Support position, as they look to advance in the playoffs.

The professional League of Legends scene in Brazil has shown to be supportive of diversity. In the past, players like Geovana “Revy” Moda and Júlia "Mayumi" Nakamura have seen success in non-official stages, but this is the first official match that will have a female player part of a starting roster.

Rensga Esports is a fairly new organization, founded in 2019. The team acquired a spot in the Brazilian Challenger Circuit and took sixth place on its first Split, and first place on its second Split’s Promotions.
