Evil Geniuses Mid Laner Daniele "Jiizuke" di Mauro was named Player of the Week in week 8 of the 2020 League of Legends Championship Series Spring Split. Through eight weeks, Jiizuke is the fifth Mid Laner to win the award.

Jiizuke followed up a 7/1/8 LeBlanc performance in EG's victory over Team Liquid last Saturday with a 7/0/3 Ryze game in a triumph over Dignitas. Evil Geniuses has won 5 straight games and is now in a three-way tie for 2nd with TSM and FlyQuest with a 9-7 record. At 15-1, the 1st place Cloud9 continues to reign supreme over its competition in the LCS.

Jiizuke is the fifth Mid Laner to win LCS Player of the Week.  Dignitas' Henrik "Froggen" Hansen, Cloud9's Yasin "Nisqy" Dincer, TSM's Søren "Bjergsen" Bjerg, and FlyQuest's Tristan "PowerOfEvil" Schrage have won the award previously. The only non Mid-Laners to be awarded PotW are Nisqy's teammates on C9 —  Jungler Robert "Blaber" Huang, and AD Carry Jesper "Zven" Svenningsen have all been awarded in previous weeks — and Team Liquid Jungler Mads "Broxah" Brock-Pedersen.

Jiizuke's efforts in leading Evil Geniuses to its second 2-0 week in a row has shaken up the last few games in the pring Split. EG, TSM and FlyQuest are all searching for that tenth win in week 9  that will punch each respective team's post-season ticket. Evil Geniuses' next match is against the formidable Cloud9, and a win against the turquoise titans would be a huge statement heading into the Playoffs.

Despite only two games remaining in the 2020 LCS Spring Split, only Cloud9 has qualified for the 2020 LCS Spring Playoffs as the guaranteed 1st seed. Across the Atlantidc Ocean, the 2020 League of Legends European Championship Spring Split has already solidified all six of its post-season teams.
