For beginner managers, I recommend checking the 'Trend Center' in the Play Guide menu. There, you can see the formations preferred by top-ranked managers and, if you wish, use the copy function to bring them directly to your team. First, select a formation, then carefully review the copyable information and use the one whose defensive style, attacking balance, and tendencies most closely match your desired playstyle. Individual tactics can also be copied.

I recommend importing a setup first, making adjustments to player positioning if needed, and then playing a few matches to see what is missing. If you feel the distance between players is too large during a match, try adjusting the width or build-up style. If your fullbacks are too aggressive and it feels risky, you can reduce their attacking participation in the individual tactics menu. It is better to adjust tactics by identifying problems one by one rather than making major changes all at once. It helps to first identify which scenarios repeat during a match. If your attacking build-up feels sluggish, look at your build-up speed, passing tendencies, and attacking width first. If players are too far apart and passing lanes are blocked, adjust the width or build-up style. If there are not enough players near the box, check the number of players entering the box or the individual tactics of your secondary attackers. If you want to use wingers for crosses but they keep moving out of position, check their individual tactics; you can set details like 'Stay in Position' or 'Stay Wide' to prevent them from drifting.

If you are frequently caught on the counter-attack, you should first look at your defensive line, pressure settings, and fullback individual tactics. If your defensive line is too high, all your fullbacks are joining the attack, or your CDM is pushing up too often, the space behind your defense can easily be exploited. In this case, you can gain stability by setting one fullback to be defensive or by giving your CDM a 'Stay Back While Attacking' role.
