It has already been 8 years since FC Online (FCO) launched! There is a perception that the older an online game is, the higher the barrier to entry. However, FCO is not as difficult as you might think. If you follow along step by step, you will find yourself aiming for Challenger rank before you know it.
Today, I would like to share my experience with FCO from the perspective of a genuine returning user. I would like to briefly summarize the thoughts I had while logging in and playing after a long time. There are aspects that would have been beneficial if I had known about them a little sooner, so if you are a club owner still in the adaptation phase like me, I think it would be helpful to refer to this to see if you have missed anything.
Restarting FCO with the New/Returning Player Event
I am a club owner who has enjoyed FCO for quite a long time, starting from 2018. Going back even further, I participated in all the pre-launch tests as well as the previous titles. I think I enjoyed playing for roughly four years after the release of FCO. After that, I left the game for a while, but recently, I became interested in soccer again and logged back in for the first time in a very long time.
However, after looking around the atmosphere a bit, I noticed that many things had changed. First off, it seemed like the team I was using was no longer viable for active play. It was the Korean national team, which was quite popular at the time, but when I asked acquaintances, they told me it was too weak now. My salary cap had also been stuck at 210, but now the era of 300 has begun. There were also changes to the in-game system. In the past, I only paid attention to the training coach, but now there are more elements to strengthen the squad, such as tactical training and intensive training for supporters. Initially, I intended to continue playing with the account I had used since the previous game, but because I had only logged in briefly recently, I was unable to participate in the new/returning player event. So, I created a new account with the mindset of a beginner. The current value of my original team is about 15 trillion, but I heard that I could bring in over 100 trillion by participating in the new and returning player event. I didn't need to hesitate for long. So, I created a new account with the mindset of a beginner. My original team is currently worth about 15 trillion, but I heard that I could get over 100 trillion by participating in the new and returning player events. Of course, unless you are in the same situation as me, it would probably be better to continue with your existing account.
My team was still stuck at a salary of 210.
Let's start with loan players and a quick squad.
In the past, I was a club owner who really enjoyed 1v1 official matches. I only played Manager Mode occasionally when I didn't have time to play myself. However, when I tried to kick the ball again after a long time, my hands just wouldn't cooperate. I don't know if it was just my imagination, but the feel of the game seemed different from before. As I kept losing even at very low official match ranks, I naturally started blaming my team.
And to be honest, my team wasn't very good. It was a new account, after all. So, I set a goal: to participate diligently in events and build a squad that met the national team's salary cap. For a while after that, I focused on playing Manager Mode. Rather than losing because of my own skills, I played Manager Mode moderately to consistently collect rewards from new and returning player events. I also kept an eye on other events and claimed whatever I could.
Most FCO events require you to receive rewards based on attendance and playing matches. Playing the 1v1 match mode yourself is fine, but playing Manager Mode is also a good option, even if it takes a little time. If your goal is simply to participate in events, Manager Mode is also a good option. Since you can auto-play 20 matches a day, you can use this to claim rewards. However, you will need to manually complete other missions in the in-game Mission Hub that provide FC and BP.
When I had accumulated roughly 100 trillion in assets, I started recruiting players little by little. Since some of the acquired players belonged to Milano FC, I filled their salaries to 300 to match that team color, resulting in a 200 trillion squad. After all, isn't building a squad one of the fun parts of FCO? Time really flew by as I selected players for each position, chose classes to fit my budget, and compared their stats. It had been a long time since I was so immersed in the fun of building a team.
However, after a while, that action felt like a mistake. To be honest, 200 trillion felt like a huge amount to me, so I put a lot of effort into building this team, but it turns out it isn't really a usable team. Since the KHD Quarterfinals squad is being provided as a loan squad through an official website event, I think it would be best to use that to familiarize yourself with the game and save your BP. If the KHD Quarterfinals squad isn't to your liking, you can also use the 1,000 Trillion Quick Squad given as a reward in the New/Returner Event.
