KONAMI Digital Entertainment announced on the 8th that it will officially release the 2D action adventure game 'Castlevania: Belmont's Curse' on October 15. The game is co-developed by KONAMI and Evil Empire, with production support from indie developer Motion Twin.
Set in Paris, France, in 1499—23 years after the events of the popular title 'Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse'—the game follows Rose Belmont, the daughter of Trevor Belmont, as she explores Dracula's castle and battles monsters using the Vampire Killer whip along with various other weapons and skills.
A new trailer was also unveiled at the Xbox Games Showcase, featuring Rose Belmont exploring various stages and fighting monsters. The footage highlights the series' signature charm, including its exploration-focused combat system and gothic atmosphere.
The video has heightened fan anticipation by showcasing new gameplay scenes featuring new areas and bosses, as well as illustrations created by renowned Japanese illustrator Katsuya Terada.
Pre-orders began on the 8th via PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Steam. All participants will receive an Alucard-style costume.
Additionally, purchasers of the 'Castlevania: Belmont's Curse' Midnight Edition will receive the base game, three in-game items—a Trevor-style costume, a Sypha-style costume, and a Family Portrait sorcerer tool—as well as access to a digital sound and art gallery featuring 71 background music tracks and various illustrations.
The release schedule and pre-order details for the Nintendo Switch version will be announced later via the official website and social media channels.
The Castlevania series, which debuted with the first title in 1986, has seen numerous releases across various platforms and remains a beloved action adventure game series among fans to this day.
