After months of preparation, thousands of hours of grinding the Ranked ladder, and three days of play, a new Teamfight Tactics World Champion has been crowned. As the field of 24 players from around the world was narrowed down to eight prior to Friday's final day of play, it was 8LJaywalking from Korea who proved he was the best of the best.

Piloting a six Divine team composition that utilized the strengths of Kayle, Lee Sin, Yone, and the Adept trait to slow down the opposition, the final fight came down to the slimmest of margins.

After eliminating two players in the final match of the event to secure the win, 8LJaywalking jumped for joy and ran away from his chair to hug a nearby friend.

In addition to being named the Teamfight Tactics: Fates World Champion, 8LJaywalking will take home the lion's share of the $250,000 prize pool to the tune of $41,500. Coming in second was Zyk0o from France while Ramkev from North American finished third.

The competition began on April 7 with a multi-day Swiss format in place. All 24 qualifying players from around the world were put into lobbies of eight then, based on how they performed, 16 qualified for Day 2 of the event. The field was slashed in half at the end of Day 2 with the final eight competitors representing Asia, North America, Oceania, and Europe.

France's Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies champion, Double61, did not qualify for the event.
