Aberrant Labs and Slug Disco announced on the 17th that they have officially released the microscopic roguelike shooter 'Pathogenic' on the PC game platform Steam.
In 'Pathogenic', the player takes on the role of a disease, battling the human body's immune system. Players can choose from seven types of pathogens inspired by real-world biology.
The game features a system where players can collect and combine over 120 unique organelles and mutations to evolve their pathogen. It is also built on a soft-body physics simulation, allowing cells and projectiles to move with lifelike fluidity.
The game includes six procedurally generated levels. Players explore internal environments like the intestines and heart, dodging barrages of fire from macrophages and T-cells.
Beyond that, players will face off against rival pathogens such as helminths and lung parasites. After defeating the final boss, players can access secret levels by meeting specific conditions or test their skills in 15 challenge modes. Completing challenges and collecting plasmid fragments unlocks new pathogens, organelles, and upgrades.
'Pathogenic' officially supports 11 languages, including Korean, English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese. The base price is ₩10,500, with a 20% launch discount bringing it down to ₩8400. A bundle including the original soundtrack and concept art book is priced at ₩8,200, with a 40% launch discount available.
