A Collection of Easter Eggs in Blizzard World!

Blizzard World, a new map, has been added to the Overwatch PTR (Public Test Realm). When it was announced at Blizzcon 2017 that a new map would be added to Overwatch, fans were ecstatic. The fans then instantly fell in love with the map after seeing that it was a Blizzard amusement park; even fans who only play Blizzard’s other franchises seem to be quite fond of it.

Many fans left remarks regarding the news of Blizzard World such as, “I’d love to make a custom game with the Blizzard World map and go around to take a look,” or “I wish Blizzard would build an actual amusement park like this one in the future.” Later, when Blizzard World was added to the PTR, many players created their own custom games to have a tour around the new map.

The areas that are actually accessible in the game are the parts featuring World of Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo, located near the Stone Cairn Lake in the center of the park. The total area you can actually visit is less than half of the amusement park, but you can take great delight in going around to look at the small details hidden here and there in the map.

Well, here are the hidden features and Easter Eggs we found in Blizzard World - enjoy your tour!

▶ World of Warcraft Area - From Hearthstone Tavern to Snaxramas

■ Uther’s Welcoming Message at the Entrance to Blizzard World

The gateway to Blizzard World is connected to the Hearthstone Tavern, the spawning area for the attacking team, although while inside, players cannot move near the gateway and can only enjoy the view inside the tavern. This is also where players will be taking their victory pose after they win the game.

If you make it to the farthest part of Blizzard World, you will be able to hear some greetings from Uther the Lightbringer, the hero from World of Warcraft and Heroes of the Storm. Uther, who had been the guide to players in the game, once again will guide you all the way from Hearthstone to the World of Warcraft areas in Blizzard World via various announcements.

■ Hearthstone Tavern and Hearth

Hearthstone Tavern, which is also the spawn area for the attacking team, has tables fully set for some rounds of the Hearthstone TCG. The map for the whole of Blizzard World is placed on one side of the tavern, and you can also find a few posters for amusement rides, as well as old posters for Warcraft.

You’ll also find a fireplace with a burning fire on one side of the room where you can hear Uther delivering some warm lines when you go nearby.

▲ Hearthstone Tavern, the spawn area for the attacking team.
▲ The map of Blizzard World inside Hearthstone Tavern.
▲ Poster that seems to be of the opening for the original Warcraft.
▲ If you go near the fireplace, you’ll be able to hear Uther talking.

■ Posters for Amusement Rides near Hearthstone Tavern

There are posters for amusement rides around Hearthstone Tavern. There are 2 posters inside the tavern and 2 outside; the ones inside feature the ‘Darkmoon Ferriswheel’ and ‘Blackrock Mountain’, while the ones outside feature the ‘Hellscream’ and ‘Spawning Pool’.

The Darkmoon Ferriswheel and Hellscream can be seen across the lake in the center of the park, although Blackrock Mountain and the Spawning Pool can not be seen since they’re located out of sight.

▲ You can find the Darkmoon Ferriswheel poster
▲ and Blackrock Mountain poster placed inside the tavern,
▲ and the Hellscream poster
▲ and the Spawning Pool poster placed outside.
▲ You can see the Hellscream and Darkmoon Ferriswheel across the lake, although you can’t get to them.

■ Ancient Curios and Souvenirs

After you leave Hearthstone Tavern, turning right will let you see Ancient Curios, a Blizzard souvenir shop where you can see a bunch of Blizzard goods you’ll later find on display around the map.

Walking towards the counter near the shop door will let you hear Uther say his greetings, followed by his recommendation that you buy souvenirs.

▲ Ancient Curios is on the right side of the stairs leading to the Stormwind Gate.
▲ This is where they sell Blizzard World souvenirs.
▲ I’d love to get that balloon Doomhammer toy!

■ Posters near the Stormwind Gate

There are 4 posters for amusement rides at the Stormwind Gate. 2 of them are Overlord Transport and Flight to Duskwood, placed on the left side of the gate, and the others are Journey to Aiur and Murloc Island on the right. The posters for Overlord Transport and Journey to Aiur can also be seen in the Nexus Experience in the Starcraft area.

These amusement rides in the poster actually exist in Blizzard World; Overlord Transport is the aircraft floating over the Stone Cairn Lake, and Flight to Duskwood is the tiny roller coaster that has Griffin-shaped carts on the right side of the Stormwind Gate.

Journey to Aiur is also a roller coaster shaped like a Protoss Gateway that you can see across the lake. Journey to Aiur seems like a scary ride that turns 360° several times. As for Murloc Island, it is the tiny island you’ll find out on the Stone Cairn Lake. Yes, you aren’t actually able to experience the rides yourself, which is very unfortunate.

▲ You can see the Journey to Aiur and Overlord Transport across the lake.
▲ Flight to Duskwood can be found on your right once you pass the Stormwind Gate.
▲ Murloc Island is just… an island where Murloc lives.

■ Flight to Duskwood and Fargodeep Mine

As mentioned before, you’ll see Flight to Duskwood on your right and the Fargodeep Mine on your left once you pass the Stormwind Gate. Both rides are roller coasters, but unfortunately you can’t enjoy them since the entrances are shut off and do not allow to you go past them. However, walking near the entrance of the rides will let you hear Uther’s announcements on precautions.

▲ Flight to Duskwood on the right side of Stormwind Gate, and
▲ Fargodeep Mine on the left side.
▲ This is where you can hear Uther’s announcements on precautions for riding Flight to Duskwood.
▲It says the average wait time is 45 minutes.

■ Snaxramas and their unique food

There is another unique building in the World of Warcraft area: Snaxramas, which resembles Naxxramas, a raid dungeon that appeared in Vanilla World of Warcraft and Wrath of the Lich King. The giant pyramid floating in the sky does leaves quite an impression, but it actually turns out to be a snack bar in World of Warcraft area. This is why it is called ‘Snax’ramas.

Inside of Snaxaramas are pictures of snacks sold there and tables for customers. They have ordinary-looking snacks such as hamburgers and chicken legs, but they also have weird menu items with fun names like, Death-Wings or Murloc-Icle.

▲ Blizzard turned Naxxramas into a snack bar and called it ‘Snaxramas’.
▲ The new menu named, ‘Death-Wings’.
▲ They sold a variety of snacks.

■ Uther’s Announcements throughout the World of Warcraft Area

Other than that, there are many spots where you can hear Uther’s announcements throughout the World of Warcraft area. Most of his announcements are about events held regularly at Blizzard World or advertisements for certain rides; for example, he announces that “the wait line for Hellscream is currently… 4 hours,” or “there will a spectacular firework show this evening.” There are also cute announcements like “Will the owner of the Black Quiraji Battle Tank please contact security. It is currently double-parked.”

▲ Uther’s announcements can be heard at the bar table of the Hearthstone Tavern
▲ and at Lost and Found Vikings
▲ and near the shark model at the Booty Bay

■ The Chests in the World of Warcraft Area

There are chests that resemble the ones in WoW in the World of Warcraft area, and these can be opened by hitting the lid. The chests are filled up with gold that, of course, cannot be taken.

▲ Aim for the lid of the chests...
▲ and tadaa! Treasure!

▶ Starcraft Area - From the Nexus Experience to Pylon Terrace

■ Souvenirs on display and Adjutant’s Annoucements in the Nexus Experience

Once you enter the Nexus Experience, you will hear the greetings of the Terran Adjutant from Starcraft 2, which seems ironic seeing as you’re inside a Protoss building. Anyhow,
it is entertaining to hear her call an SCV for repairs or recommend players to dine at the Pylon Terrace.

Not only that, there are many Starcraft-related souvenirs on display around the Nexus Experience, and among these are the figures of Zerglings, Marines, and the SCV which make the same death sound from Starcraft when you hit them.

▲ The Nexus Experience which, as expected, looks like a nexus. You will be able to hear the adjutant when you enter the 1st floor.
▲ Starcraft figures on display.
▲ Hit them and they will make the sound their respective death cries.

■ Pylon Terrace and Snacks

Pylon Terrace is a place similar to Snaxramas where they sell snacks. There are many tables, just as you’d find at a regular terrace cafe. You will also hear adjutant recommending snacks at the counter on the 1st floor in her indifferent voice- snacks like ‘Ravager Hotdog’, Icecream in ‘Frozen Mineral’, ‘Vespin’, or even ‘Creep’ flavors.

▲ Pylon Terrace. You can see the galaxy inside the cup on the sign.
▲ Walk near the counter and you can hear the adjutant’s voice.
▲ You can see the unique food they sell at Pylon Terrace!
▲ They also sell Death-Wings and Murloc-Icle that are sold at Snaxramas.

■ Siege Tank and Probes

Once you walk into the Starcraft area, you’ll see the Siege Tank, Ghost Academy, and Protoss Probes from Starcraft 2. There are two types of Probes- the ones flying over in the area, and the ones collecting minerals; the ones flying around can be destroyed, exploding with their robotic cry of dismay. Also, if you get near the Siege Tank, you’ll be able to hear the Terran theme soundtrack from Starcraft 1.

▲ Ghost Academy, Siege Tank, and the Probes next to the Pylon Terrace.
▲ Trying to destroy the Probes collecting minerals is pointless as they cannot be destroyed.
▲ You’ll have to go this close to the Siege Tank to hear the sound track.

▶ Heroes of the Storm Area - Heroes Arcade

■ Arcade Games at Heroes Arcade and the High Score

Heroes arcade is the only place related to Heroes of the Storm in Blizzard World. This is where the defending team will start in the game, and you’ll find arcade games just like you’d see in actual arcade centers.

Among these machines is one called ‘Murky Skeeball’, which has a high score board on a wall. If you step closer, you’ll see the name of the heroes and their scores for Murky Skeeball. The funny part is that Sombra has been placed 1st with 9999 points while D.Va was placed 2nd with 850 points, which seems to indicate that Sombra hacked in to change her score. Other than that, it appears that Junkrat has been placed 3rd with 710 points and Soldier:76 at 4th with 670.

▲ Heroes Arcade is the spawning area for the defending team.
▲ The Azmodunk game is a reference to the Azmodunk skin for Azmodan in Heroes of the Storm.
▲ Murky Skeeball is a game in which you aim your balls at the shape that resembles the Mark of Wild.
▲ ‘SMB’ placed 1st with 9999 points… Apparently, it’s Sombra’s hacking.

■ The Employee-Only Area next to the Nexus Experience

There is a restricted area located between the buildings for Heroes Arcade and Reign of the Black King. You hear the adjutant’s announcement here, during which it calls for security, although no security team will arrive no matter how long you wait.

▲ Adjutant calls for security, although they don’t actually come.

▶ Diablo Area - Tristram Cathedral

■ Deckard Cain’s Annoucements

You can only hear Deckard Cain speak in certain spots in the Tristram Cathedral placed in the Reign of the Black King, although he tends to say quite a lot when he does.

You can hear Deckard Cain’s famous “Hello! My Friend. Stay awhile and listen!” but you can also hear him moan, “Please… Stay here awhile and listen to the following announcements. No one ever listens…”.

You can also hear him mentioning a few old, friendly names like Wirt or Charsi, or even poor Leah from Diablo III, which may be quite nostalgic for Diablo players.

▲ You can hear Deckard Cain’s announcements near the Black King’s throne and
▲ the shrine near the crypt,
▲ and also at Deckard Cain’s desk.

■ Leoric’s Crown

The payload the attacking team has to escort is actually Leoric’s Crown, which has to be escorted all the way to the Skeleton King’s throne. Let’s hope this doesn’t bring the Skeleton King back!

▲ Bring Leoric his crown!
