Only real soldiers can play - the Overwatch Soldier:76 Tournament held in S.Korea

On Oct 9th, a special Overwatch tournament, the Overwatch Soldier:76 Tournament, was held in S. Korea in celebration of the Korean Armed Force Day.

The Overwatch Soldier:76 Tournament was organized in cooperation between ROK Army and Blizzard Entertainment Korea and only the soldiers who are currently serving in the army were able to participate. The semifinal and final stages were live streamed online, and the commentators for the Overwatch APEX commentated on the tournament.

A total of 180 soldiers who got through the preliminaries played for their Army Division. After many fierce matches, the 12th Division won the final and received a 15-day long vacation as a reward.

All adult men who hold S.Korean citizenship must be drafted into the military and serve for about 2 years. About 0.5 million men, mostly in their early 20s, are currently serving in the Army in S.Korea.

The event was held for the young soldiers who enjoy video games and eSports. The event ended with a big success with many soldiers supporting and participating in the tournament.
