Team Vitality has secured its second Counter-Strike 2 title of 2026 after defeating PARIVISION in the Grand Final of PGL Cluj-Napoca.
According to a release, the French esports organisation claimed a 3-0 series victory, adding another trophy to its cabinet following its earlier win at the inaugural IEM Kraków.
The tournament featured the majority of the world’s top-ranked teams, with Vitality progressing through the group stage after victories against G2, The MongolZ and MOUZ. The team ultimately closed out the event with a dominant performance in the final.
Mathieu ‘ZywOo’ Herbaut was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament. With the accolade, Herbaut became the only player in Counter-Strike history to reach 30 MVP awards.
Vitality’s championship-winning roster consisted of Dan ‘apEX’ Madesclaire, Mathieu ‘ZywOo’ Herbaut, Robin ‘ropz’ Kool, William ‘mezii’ Merriman and Shahar ‘flameZ’ Shushan.
Grand Slam within reach
The victory moves Team Vitality one step closer to securing another Intel Grand Slam, awarded to teams that win a set number of elite-level events organised by ESL. According to the release, the organisation now requires just one additional EGS-eligible trophy to claim the $1m (~£790,000) prize.
Vitality’s next opportunity to complete the milestone will come at IEM Rio in April. The organisation is set to skip the upcoming ESL Pro League. Before Rio, the team will compete at BLAST Open Rotterdam, scheduled to take place from March 18th to March 29th.
