NCsoft Details AION 2 Anti–Gold Farming Measures, Macro Crackdown and Major QoL Updates

NCsoft (co-CEOs Taek-jin Kim and Byung-moo Park; hereafter NC) will roll out an update for its MMORPG AION 2 that strengthens countermeasures against organized gold-farming operations while also improving player convenience.

During a live broadcast on the 27th, the AION 2 development team announced several measures aimed at curbing gold-farming operations, including blocking specific overseas VPNs, enhancing the in-game reporting system, and introducing hardware-based blocking methods. To prevent the unchecked spread of gathering macros, the minimum level required for gathering activities has been raised to level 45.

During the broadcast, the developers also disclosed the “status of permanent bans and authentication-related sanctions for illicit users,” reaffirming their determination to eliminate gold-farming operations. They stated that strong countermeasures will continue to be enforced in order to establish a fair and healthy in-game ecosystem.

NC also rolled out a range of quality-of-life updates. A new system designed to make skill usage more convenient has been added. As an initial implementation, support for “basic attack canceling” tied to left and right mouse clicks has been applied, with plans to expand the feature to additional skills in the future. The long-requested “character storage” feature has also been added, allowing players to store items by choosing between character storage and server storage.

Changes are also being made to in-game content. In the PvP (player versus player) dungeon Middle Abyss Reshanta, the amount of Kinah and Abyss Points obtainable has been increased by 40%. The difficulty of boss monsters appearing in the middle and lower layers has been increased, while the stats of certain monsters in the middle layer have been reduced to better balance overall difficulty.

Adjustments are also coming to the highest-tier PvE (player versus environment) dungeon, Sanctuary. One of the entry conditions—“reward count”—has been removed, leaving only a “challenge count.” Players who have remaining challenge counts will be able to continue enjoying Sanctuary content, but they will not be able to open Od Energy Cubes, which consume reward counts when opened.

Stigma skills for the Assassin and Cleric classes are also being improved. The effectiveness of survivability-focused skills—such as Survival Stance, HP Boost, and Heightened Senses—has been increased. In addition, Blade Throw, Infiltration, Binding Trap, and Voice of Doom have been updated to destroy all shields applied to their targets, introducing new tactical variables into combat.
