WGS Phoenix, an Incheon-based professional game team, won the title of OVERWATCH Contenders Korea 2020 Season 2 held in the Lotte World Hot Six Afreeca Colosseum in Songpa-gu, Seoul on the 22nd by turning around the final game to 4 to 3 despite allowing the match point ahead against the runner-up beating up the battlefield as the wrecking ball-echo-tracer taking up the last Contenders and won the last contest of 2020 throne.

WGS, which won the 2020 OVERWATCH Contenders title, is doing well with the introduction of a coaching education solution called eSports Platform X and has been known as the favorite to win as it has ranked high in practice games every time.

WGS has been known as a strong game team against FPS, which has partnered with LW BLUE, LW RED in 2017 to discover and nurture various managers, coaching staff, and players in the OVERWATCH League.

In Excelsior, the first regular league championship team, more than 10 LW BLUE, LW RED players and coaches were active, and in Mayhem Florida, five players and coaches were active. Moon Byung-chul, manager, and Shin Dong-soo, coach of the Shanghai Dragons, the winner of the regular league of 2020 OVERWATCH League, are also known to be from WGS. Also, they have discovered the world's best players such as PIO Cha Seung-hoon and DG98 Hwang Dae-kwon in PUBG. The VALORANT team also has the best results.

With this 2020 OVERWATCH Contenders title, WGS will further expand its global presence. In 2021, WGS coach Kim Seung-hyun will be the manager of Boston Uprise in the U.S., and various clubs in the OVERWATCH League and LCK are also receiving proposals for a partnership.

"We hope that WGS and players will be able to advance to overseas leagues and fulfill their dreams with this championship," said an official at Incheon Technopark in Incheon Metropolitan City. "Incheon Metropolitan City and Incheon Technopark will continue to take the lead in supporting the younger generation by discovering and fostering amateur players."

In response, CEO JUDY JUNG said that WGS will further expand communication with fans globally through consultation with IP companies, and will expand communication opportunities with fans in the U.S., China, Europe, the Middle East, and Vietnam through various world competitions and events to be held in November and thereafter. She said, "We will also enter the U.S., China, and Europe, where massive investment and industrialization in esports have started, and support Korean esports players" and continued to say, "In line with the 5G era, we will further strengthen Mobile Game League, eStadium, Academy, and Theme Park also."

'World Game Audition', which is WGS (WorldGameStar)'s own audition program, will begin in December 2020 when the sponsorship of existing partners such as Incheon Metropolitan City, TriumphX foundation, Logitech, 30Chair, YSK Media & Partners, TS Partners, Daeyoung, and the player selection will be finalized in the first half of 2021.
