Meta Athena Sayaplayer: “I’d like to play against Lunatic-Hai in the quarterfinals.”

On the 11th day of Overwatch APEX Season 2, Meta Athena defeated Team EnVyUs 3-0, securing its place as the best team in Group A.

Meta was pretty aggressive with their triple tanks. The combination of D.Va, Zarya, and Reinhardt was effective enough to defeat the enemies and lead the team to victory.

Below is the post-match interview with Jeong-Woo “Sayaplayer” Ha, who led the team to victory by playing Soldier: 76 in Set 2 as well as showing an impressive gameplay with a variety of characters.

You just won against world’s best Overwatch team. How are you feeling right now?

I was pretty nervous because I was playing against world’s best OW team. But my teammates and I trusted each other and believed in ourselves that we can win against anybody.

What did you focus on for today’s match?

I cannot share the details with you, but we had a special strategy that we didn’t get to try today. It was for Numbani. I’m kind of sad Numbani wasn’t one of the maps for today’s match.

Is there any special reason for the triple tanks?

We’ve been practicing with the triple tanks a lot and we know we can work together. So my teammates played as D.Va, Zarya, and Reinhardt, while I played as a DPS character. I picked different DPS characters for each set so we can show different gameplay styles.

There were moments where you had a hard time against Taimou’s Widowmaker. Is Taimou’s Widowmaker different from other Widowmakers?

I can usually sense it when a Widowmaker is aiming at me, but that’s not the case for Taimou’s Widowmaker. Taimou shoots at the most unexpected times. That’s what gives me a hard time against Taimou’s Widowmaker.

Set 2 was a tight match. Did you know you were going to win?

Actually, I was not confident of our victory. I was just like “whatever comes, let it come.”

Your team is on an amazing winning streak: 19 wins in a row. What is the secret to your winning streak?

I’m not sure if this a secret, but we do have one. When we lose in scrims, we try to evaluate each game and give feedbacks to each other. I think that might be the key to our success.

You made it to the quarterfinals. Do you think you can maintain your streak? Any team that you are looking forward to playing against?

I think we can make it to the semifinals. I’d like to play against Lunatic-Hai in the quarterfinals. They are the best team in Korea, and they’ve won against us in scrims. I want to challenge them.

Any last words?

I’m not really satisfied with my performance today. I will try my best to improve my aim and be a better DPS.
