A trailer introducing 'DMZ,' the third mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare IV, has been released.
On the 8th, during the 2026 Xbox Game Showcase, Infinity Ward unveiled the DMZ introduction trailer. The 5-minute and 27-second video begins with a North Korean news broadcast and focuses on combat in the city of Hajin. The appearance of shopping centers, urban areas, and police stations—all familiar to domestic players—creates a sense of both familiarity and unease.
DMZ is an extraction shooter-based third mode developed by Infinity Ward for Modern Warfare IV. Players are deployed to the Hajin map, where South Korea, North Korea, and Russia are entangled, and must engage in fierce combat with the goal of survival and extraction. Fitting the Korean Peninsula setting, the map is filled with familiar objects and elements, such as an enemy commander with the callsign 'GORANI,' adding an extra layer of interest.
Meanwhile, the main game, 'Modern Warfare IV,' which includes the DMZ mode, is the latest installment in the Modern Warfare series, set in a fictional South Korea where a second Korean War has broken out. The title has generated significant buzz among domestic gamers early on by featuring a South Korean Marine and the series' iconic Captain Price as dual protagonists.
The highly anticipated Modern Warfare IV is scheduled for release on October 23, 2026, for PS5, Xbox, PC (Steam and Battle.net), and Switch2.
