Italian game company Digital Bros has acquired the intellectual property (IP) rights to the action RPG 'Wuchang: Fallen Feathers' (hereinafter 'Wuchang').
Digital Bros announced on April 27 (local time) that it had signed an agreement to acquire the Wuchang IP rights from Chinese developer Leenzee. The acquisition is valued at CN¥32 million (approximately ₩6.9 billion).
With this deal, Digital Bros has secured full ownership of the Wuchang IP. The company is now exempt from future royalty obligations to the developer and will be able to make faster decisions regarding future development direction and related investments.
Wuchang is a Soulslike action RPG developed by Leenzee and published by Digital Bros subsidiary 505 Games. The game is set in the Shu region during the dark and chaotic final years of the Ming Dynasty. It was released on July 24, 2025, and recorded over 130,000 concurrent players on Steam on its launch day.
As of March 31, 2026, cumulative sales exceeded 1 million units, with revenue (excluding taxes and fees) surpassing €30 million (approximately ₩61.9 billion). Digital Bros stated, "This confirms the product's strengths and long-term potential," adding that there are no outstanding financial disputes between the two parties.
This IP acquisition aligns with Digital Bros' strategy to increase its portfolio of fully owned IP, boost profitability, and create long-term value. However, the company noted that the acquisition is not expected to have a material impact on the business outlook for the current fiscal year previously disclosed to the market.
Meanwhile, reports from Chinese media outlet Gamersky in April suggested that the Wuchang developer, Leenzee, has effectively disbanded. According to the report, director Xia Siyuan was dismissed before the Lunar New Year, and the remaining development team members were offered a transition to an outsourcing studio; they reportedly refused, leading to the dissolution of the entire team.
