Woori Bank has renewed its title sponsorship of League of Legends Champions Korea, extending one of the longest-running corporate partnerships in global esports.
Riot Games Korea announced Monday that it finalized a new agreement with Woori Bank during a signing ceremony held at LoL Park in Jongno-gu, Seoul. The deal marks the eighth consecutive year that the financial institution will serve as a main partner of the LCK, Korea’s premier League of Legends competition.
The ceremony was attended by Woori Bank President Jin-wan Jeong and Riot Games Korea Country Manager Hyuk-jin Cho, along with executives from both organizations. Representatives posed for photos following the signing, underscoring the continued collaboration between the bank and the league.
Woori Bank first became an LCK sponsor in 2019. Since then, the league has maintained a strong domestic following while continuing to post international results, including multiple World Championship victories by LCK teams during the partnership period. The LCK is widely regarded as one of the most competitive regions in League of Legends esports.
Beyond branding and league support, Woori Bank has participated in grassroots initiatives tied to the partnership. The company has operated the “Woori WON Banking High School LoL League,” a program designed to broaden access to competitive play and help identify emerging talent. Woori Financial Group has also backed Korea’s national esports efforts, including support for the team that competed at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou.
Woori Bank–LCK Sponsorship Agreement
Cho said the long-term sponsorship has played a role in the league’s growth and stability. He credited consistent backing from Woori Bank with helping the LCK develop into a league with broad generational appeal, while maintaining its standing on the global stage.
Jeong referenced the broader cultural impact of esports in Korea, pointing to the visibility gained through international competition. He said the partnership aims to support continued growth in the scene and expand its audience.
Founded in 2012, the LCK is one of six major regional leagues in Riot Games’ global League of Legends ecosystem. Beginning in 2025, the league will operate as a single season running from April through September, featuring 10 teams. International competition will include three global events each year: First Stand, the Mid-Season Invitational and the World Championship.
With millions of daily viewers worldwide, the LCK remains a central pillar of Riot Games’ esports strategy.
