Riot Games launched the 2025 Season 3 update for League of Legends on Wednesday, marking the final ranked split of the year with gameplay changes, champion updates, and new esports celebrations.
Ranked play began at noon on Aug. 27, with players’ League Points progress carrying over from the previous split. The seasonal Victorious mission, which requires 15 ranked wins to unlock a limited skin, has reset. Riot confirmed this will remain a consistent requirement for future splits.
Visual updates headline the champion adjustments. Atakhan’s kit remains mechanically unchanged, but his weapon effects were refreshed to better reflect his design. Veteran fighter Xin Zhao received a full modernization, including new character models, animations, skill icons, splash art, sound effects, and voice lines. Riot also overhauled the look of his skins to align with the update.
Complete Overhaul from PvE Mode to Player Convenience
The popular PvE mode “Doom Bots” returns in an expanded format. Players will encounter fresh bosses, randomized curse modifiers, and difficulty scaling under the new “Trials of Doom” system. Riot also enhanced the bots with Veigar’s passive ability, Phenomenal Evil Power, pushing the challenge level beyond the original version.
Several player-focused convenience upgrades arrived alongside content changes. Jungle camp respawn timers now display directly on the minimap, allowing for quicker strategic decisions. The redesigned death recap UI breaks down not only incoming damage but also combat contribution, ultimate abilities, and summoner spell usage—giving players clearer insights into each skirmish. To celebrate the season’s launch, Riot is planning in-game events and hosting activities across competitive venues, including Korea’s LCK. More details on those events will be announced later.
Patch notes and additional information about Season 3 are available on the official League of Legends website, as Riot continues its focus on evolving the game for both casual players and the competitive scene.
