Secret Mode and Lab42 Announce Puzzle Game A Storied Life: Tabitha

Lab42 Games and indie publisher Secret Mode have announced A Storied Life: Tabitha, a new puzzle game that blends cozy packing mechanics with branching narrative choices. The title was revealed during tonight’s Awesome Indies Showcase and is scheduled to launch on PC in early 2026.

In A Storied Life: Tabitha, players sort through the belongings of the late Tabitha, a family member whose unfinished memoir lies in ruins. As you pack items into boxes, each trinket and keepsake reveals part of her story. Your choices determine how Tabitha’s life is remembered, shaping the chapters of her final memoir.

A House Full of Stories

Each room of Tabitha’s home contains objects that can be kept, sold, or discarded, but limited space means tough decisions must be made. Items must be carefully arranged into boxes, with fragile possessions wrapped and secured. Once a room is cleared, the belongings you choose unlock words and phrases that fill gaps in the memoir, branching the narrative in multiple directions.

According to the developers, the game invites players to reflect on memory, legacy, and the ways we choose to remember loved ones. Depending on the items preserved, Tabitha’s story might depict her as a caring parent, a solitary dreamer, or even an eccentric spirit.

A Storied Life: Tabitha is the first original release from Lab42 Games, a Sumo Digital studio known for its porting work on titles including A Little to the Left and Metal: Hellsinger VR. Publisher Secret Mode, which has released indie favorites like Wobbledogs and Still Wakes the Deep, will bring the game to PC via Steam.

A Storied Life: Tabitha is expected to release in early 2026. Players can wishlist the game now on Steam.
