GEN Haru: "You can gain back the advantage as long as you don’t make mistakes. My teammates are performing well, so if I just sustain, they let me gain the advantage. That’s why I’m not pressured."

On the 14th of September (KST), Gen.G Esports defeated Griffin 3:2 in the LCK Worlds Regional Qualifier round 2.

The defending Worlds champions, Gen.G had to go through a fierce competition against the LCK rookies, Griffin. Although they did have a hard time dealing with Griffin’s early-game performance, Gen.G was on top in the late-game teamfights.

After the match, Gen.G Haru and CuVee were interviewed by SPOTV GAMES.

You’ve advanced to the Regional finals! Today’s series must have been hard to win. How do you feel?

Haru: It’s my first time performing 5 games in a row. Although I did lose focus at times, I snapped out and recovered.

How did you recover your focus?

Haru: We talked to each other a lot.

How do you feel CuVee?

CuVee: We still do have a match left. However, I’m happy that we now gained momentum from today’s win.

You came into round 2 after winning against SKT T1. What were your thoughts on the game beforehand?

Haru: I heard that Tarzan was really good, so I did feel nervous. Still, I wasn’t that afraid since my plays were quite stable these days.

Junglers are playing quite an important role in the meta these days and now they receive a lot of spotlights. Do you feel pressured?

Haru: Even if you don’t have the advantage, it’s really important to not make mistakes since you can gain back the advantage as long as you don’t make mistakes. My teammates are performing well, so if I just sustain, they let me gain the advantage. That’s why I’m not pressured.

After playing Aatrox, you went back with your signature pick, Gnar. How was it?

CuVee: I simply think that I did what I had to do for today. That’s it.

Well, it feels like you did much more than that.

CuVee: Others might think like that. Still, I just did what I had to do.

You seemed to be winning a lot of 2 vs 1s. Are you confident in 2 vs 1s?

CuVee: The opponent was diving even if I was about to transform into Mega Gnar. Well, you don’t dive against Mega Gnar. I think the opponent was a bit hasty.

What are your resolutions against Kingzone?

Haru: Since we won rounds 1 and 2, we might as well gain momentum and win Kinzone.

CuVee: Although Kingzone is a strong team, we’ll use this momentum and play with confidence to secure the win.
