Sandbox Interactive has announced 'Dragonfire,' a major content update for its free-to-play fantasy sandbox MMORPG, 'Albion Online.' Since its 2017 launch, 'Albion Online' has seen consistent updates, including recent large-scale graphical improvements and a Xbox console release. The 'Dragonfire' update will introduce ancient dragons to the world of Albion, along with new regions and a variety of rewards. The update will launch simultaneously on August 31 for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as on Xbox Series X|S, Android, and iOS.

'Dragonfire' is a massive expansion centered on dragons, a feature long requested by the community. In addition to powerful dragons, the update adds new combat content, regions, equipment, and a special mount that only the most dedicated adventurers can obtain.

The story begins as the Ashborn complete a ritual to resurrect the dragons. Among them, the most powerful entity, the Fire Dragon Azaryon, awaits players in a deep lair accessible only to the most skilled adventurers. This boss offers the most challenging PvE combat to date, requiring exceptional skill, teamwork, and thorough preparation.

Meanwhile, dragons will also appear throughout the Royal Continent and the Outlands, allowing everyone from solo players to guilds to experience unpredictable combat.

The ritual has also opened portals to a new dimension: the Ancient Lands. On these floating islands above Albion, players will encounter the Ashborn faction, powerful drakes, and valuable treasures. The difficulty increases as players venture deeper, culminating in the Dragon Sanctuary, a new raid dungeon where players will face formidable enemies, including the leader of the Ashborn.

New adventures bring new rewards. New armor crafted from dragon bones and wings provides powerful abilities on the battlefield, while the ultimate reward—a Drake Egg—can only be obtained by players who defeat Azaryon. Once hatched and raised, this egg becomes a personal Fire Drake mount.
