Key visuals and animation details for the action-adventure game 'Ghost of Tsushima,' developed by Sucker Punch, were unveiled at Anime Expo 2026.
The animation based on 'Ghost of Tsushima' has been titled 'Ghost of Tsushima: Legends' (Japanese title: 冥人奇譚, Meijin Kitan). As the title suggests, the animation is based on the free multiplayer DLC, Legends mode, for 'Ghost of Tsushima.
While the main game deals with the realistic theme of resisting the Mongol invasion, Legends mode is characterized by its basis in Japanese myths and folklore. Instead of the main game's protagonist, Jin Sakai, Legends mode features four legendary ghosts (Meijin) as playable characters. Players must choose one of four classes—Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, or Assassin—each with distinct combat styles and concepts, to fight against the invasion of Mongol forces and Oni.
The animation is being produced by Kamikaze Douga, known for works such as Batman Ninja, Gal & Dino, and Sand Land. It is directed by Takanobu Mizuno, with the screenplay and scenario written by Gen Urobuchi, famous for Fate/Zero and Fate/Grand Order, raising high expectations.
The 'Ghost of Tsushima: Legends' animation is scheduled to air in 2027, with further details to be released at a later date. Meanwhile, along with the key visual, artwork for three of the four classes—the Assassin, Hunter, and Ronin—was also revealed, building anticipation.
