Kakao Games (CEO Han Sang-woo) announced on the 11st that it has signed a business agreement with the Korea Craft & Design Foundation (KCDF) to develop traditional cultural merchandise using the IP of 'Dokkaebi World,' an upcoming MMORPG currently being developed by Supercat (CEO Kim Won-bae).

This agreement is part of the '2026 Corporate-Linked Traditional Cultural Merchandise Development' project, promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the KCDF. Kakao Games and Supercat plan to use the 'Dokkaebi World' IP to develop both in-game costumes and physical apparel that reinterpret traditional Korean hanbok in a modern style.

The project will feature the participation of 'OUWR,' a hanbok brand known for transforming traditional patterns into modern designs, to showcase a variety of products that blend the beauty of traditional culture with the creativity of game content. The collaboration will also include the development of merchandise that integrates the game's world-building with traditional culture.

Through this collaboration, Kakao Games aims to reinterpret the value of traditional culture within its game content, further enriching the uniquely Korean worldview of 'Dokkaebi World.'

'Dokkaebi World' is a 2.5D MMORPG characterized by its distinctive retro-dot graphic style. It is currently in development with a target release in the third quarter of this year, and pre-registration is set to begin this July. Built on the Unity engine, the game offers a differentiated experience through its 2.5D visuals, intuitive gameplay, highly flexible skill deck building that transcends traditional class boundaries, and clan-based cooperative content.

Kakao Games plans to release information regarding the major content and services for 'Dokkaebi World' in sequence.
