League of Legends Patch 10.17 preview: Sona-Lux Bot Lane, a short-lived dream

Lead Gameplay Designer and League of Legends Prophet Mark Yetter has released a glimpse of what’s to come in the 10.17 patch. As previously mentioned by Riot Games, this patch will be smaller than usual, due to the company allowing their employees to take a two-week-long break for Summer.

Recharged and ready to roll, the League of Legends development team is back with nerfs and buffs. Starting with the Sona-Lux Bot Lane, it seems they have had a short-lived fiesta, as both champions have received significant nerfs. Sona’s Q will have an AP ratio decrease from 50% to 40%, while her E’s movement speed on herself and teammates will decrease from 3% to 2%. Lux’s W will cost 30% to 35% more AP, with a mana cost increased from 60 to 80. Its extra shield bug has also been fixed.

League of Legends' newest champion, Yone, has brought about as much joy to those who play him, as dread to those who play against him. In order to purge his demons, developers have decreased his Q’s base damage from 20-120 to 20-100, while his R will no longer lifesteal.

If you were excited to see Hecarim back in competition, be aware that his E had a significant movement speed decrease, from 25-100% to 25-85%, over three seconds. Qiyana is also not likely to be seen in competitive, as she gets yet another nerf, bringing her W’s hit damage AD ratio from 20% to 10%, while her E’s base damage has decreased from 60-200 to 60-180.

Champions like Evelynn and Caitlyn have received less aggressive nerfs, with the first having her Q base damage decreased from 30-50 to 25-45, and the latter having her movement speed decreased from 330 to 325.

In the buff zone, we see Xayah and Kai’sa receiving a little extra help with their ADs. Xayah’s AD per level has increased from 2.9 to 3.5%, while Kai’sa has increased from 1.7 to 2%, plus an attack speed increase on E, from 40-60 to 40-80%. Varus’ attack speed has also been slightly increased from 3 to 3.75%. Gragas has received additional armor, from 35 to 38, and lastly, Aatrox’s R has received a bonus AD from 20-30 to 20-40%.

The complete patch notes will be released this Wednesday, and these numbers might still change depending on how the testing of this patch goes, so stay tuned for more information soon.
