DRX Pyosik: "We analyzed well about the reasons we lost to T1. If we play them again, I think we’ll be able to win."

On the 20th (KST), DragonX defeated DAMWON Gaming 3-2 in the first round of the 2020 League of Legends Champions Korea Playoffs. It was close as DragonX was up 2-0 but let go two straight games. DragonX jungler Hong “Pyosik” Chang-hyeon played Sejuani and Olaf in the series, contributing to the team’s victory.

How do you feel about today’s win?

I feel good that we won 3-2. It seems more meaningful because it was a close battle to the end.

When did you feel the most anxious in today’s match?

I felt really anxious that we were caught up at 2-2. Although we lost Games 3 and 4, it was uneasy, but it’s a relief that we won.

You’ve reached the semifinals in your debut season. Did you predict that you’d do this well?

I didn’t know that we would do this well from the start. Just reaching the playoffs itself felt really good.

You haven’t played that many Bo5s. How is it different from Bo3s?

Concentration would be the biggest difference. Today, we played five games. If we play so much, there’s a high possibility that someone would lose concentration due to fatigue.

How was the feedback after losing Games 3 and 4?

We had feedback on the picks and bans after Game 3. In Game 4, the feedback was mainly about top lane and I think it led to good results.

When were you sure that you won?

Jayce Teleported behind Deft’s Aphelios and Deft survived from that even killing Miss Fortune. After I ganked top and killed Jayce two straight times, I was sure that we won.

At the end of the regular season, you gave up one game to APK Prince which had you play from the 3rd place seed. How did the team react?

It was really regretful, but our head coach cvMax created a positive vibe saying that it would be more meaningful if we beat all the teams from the bottom.

It seems that you’re always a very confident person. Where’s your source of confidence?

I was rather more confident when I didn’t know my place. Nowadays, I’m not sure that I’m as confident. However, I’m doing my best to know my prowess and situation well and to improve my performance.

You would be one of the nominees for the ‘best young player award’. Your teammate, Keria seems to be the favorite.

I would be more than satisfied with just being nominated. I also think Keria deserves the award.

Your next opponent is T1. You haven’t won against them in the regular season.

We analyzed well about the reasons we lost to T1. If we play them again, I think we’ll be able to win.

How do you plan to play in the semifinals? Are you confident to win?

Rather than being confident to win, I’ll play trying to deliver my best ever performance.

The whole season up to the finals will be without an audience. A word to the fans who would miss you?
