Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will not be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one.
On the 1st, a notification was sent to Xbox app users confirming that Modern Warfare 4 would not be offered as a day-one Game Pass title. According to the message, subscribers will be able to play the game via Game Pass starting in 2027, one year after its release.
This is not a sudden decision. Microsoft announced changes to its Game Pass service this past April, stating that it would exclude Call of Duty titles from the day-one lineups for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
Instead of including AAA titles like Call of Duty in the day-one lineup, Microsoft restructured its policy to lower Game Pass subscription fees. Consequently, the price of PC Game Pass was reduced by approximately 14%, from ₩18k to ₩15,500, while the Ultimate pass saw a 34.5% reduction, from ₩29k to ₩19k.
Although some users had hoped for the new title to join the service on day one, Microsoft intends to stick to its original announcement. Meanwhile, the Xbox division is facing various internal and external issues, including rumors of restructuring and reports that its new next-generation console project, 'Helix,' will not feature a disc drive.
