'Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3,' which allows players to experience a new world of Dragon Ball firsthand, shared new game details alongside a brief hands-off demo at the Summer Game Fest Play Days.
The setting for this title is AGE 1,000, a world of Dragon Ball never before experienced. In AGE 1,000, West City has become the center of the world and has undergone significant development; players can freely explore this vibrant city and encounter new faces. Additionally, players will join their allies as members of the GS Squadron and the Great Saiyaman Squadron to unfold the story within West City.
The core concept of the game is 'connection.' The Dragon Ball Xenoverse series has always emphasized the experience of players becoming their own warriors within the Dragon Ball universe. In Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, this direction aligns with the new era of AGE 1,000, further emphasizing the sense of connection between the player, their character, and the past and familiar warriors of Dragon Ball.

The hands-off demo began in the player character's room. Players can choose between Earthling and Saiyan races. This space serves as a home base where players can change their character's appearance at any time. Customization elements for decorating the room itself are also included.
Movement is quite free-form. In the demo, when leaving the room to head into the city, it was clear that instead of using an elevator, players can simply jump from high places, staying true to the Dragon Ball style.
West City in AGE 1k is depicted as a technologically advanced future city. It serves as the main hub for the story, where players will experience various parts of the city with their new allies. Along the way, they will also discover familiar sights.

The combat screen for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 was also revealed. Up to three allies can join a single mission, meaning a total of four characters, including the player's, move together. The development team explained that this increases the variety of missions and combat situations, allowing players to adjust their combat style to suit the situation.
Basic combat centers on aerial movement, rapid closing of distance, Ki blasts, and melee combos. Players can string together light and heavy attacks to form combos, and use boosts to quickly approach enemies or maintain the flow of an attack. Super Attacks and Ultimate Attacks can also be utilized.

Skill configurations can be adjusted by the player. In the demo build, various techniques, including Super Attacks, were equipped, and it was possible to use them in conjunction with combos depending on the combat situation. Ultimate Attacks are powerful techniques that hit a wide area.
Ki management is also crucial in combat. Ki is used for both offense and defense, and 'breaking' the opponent's Ki is set to be a key combat strategy. Breaking an enemy's Ki allows for powerful follow-up attacks, but conversely, if your own Ki is broken, you can take significant damage. The demo featured several scenes where enemies were broken through heavy attacks and combos.

Broly appeared as a boss. Unlike regular enemies, Broly used a variety of offensive techniques, including powerful attacks and wide-range skills. To avoid these, players had to utilize the terrain or use quick dodges and defenses at the right timing. The characters and the boss in the demo were both set to level 40; the combat took longer than expected, and each of the boss' attacks was quite threatening. It was also noted that the boss uses 'wipeout' attacks that must be avoided at all costs.
There are also synergy elements with allies. During combat, allies can use skills to support the player or revive a fallen player. If a character is knocked out, they can be revived during the KO timer.

The fact that Ascension skills differ by race is also a notable feature. Earthlings can use 'Soul Switch' to borrow power from the souls of Dragon Ball characters, temporarily utilizing their abilities. The demo showed a scene using Trunks' soul; after activating Soul Switch, not only did the base stats change, but the Super Attacks and Ultimate Attacks also transformed.
This can be seen as an implementation of the 'connection' emphasized by the developers—a combat system that physically links the player with Dragon Ball characters.
Saiyans can perform a Transformation into a Super Saiyan. Upon transforming, their appearance, including hairstyle, changes, and their combat abilities are enhanced. The presentation also showed a progression into Super Saiyan 3.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is scheduled for release in 2027 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
