Students from the Department of Game Contents at Kimpo University have won both the Grand Prize and second place at the international game development event, '2026 Global Game Jam.'

Kimpo University announced that student Kim Seong-eun received the Grand Prize (Jeonju University President's Award), while student Kim Hyeong-jun received the Jeonju University Immersive Media Center Director's Award at the 2026 Global Game Jam, held at Jeonju University from the 27th to the 29th.

The event brought together around 40 students and 10 mentors from four domestic universities, including Jeonju University, and four international universities from countries such as Japan and the Netherlands. Under the theme 'Games for 100-Year Era,' participants formed teams with students from different nationalities and schools to plan and develop games over approximately 48 hours.

Grand Prize winner Kim Seong-eun, part of the 'U-Brothers' team consisting of students from HKU (Netherlands), Jeonju University, and Kongju National University, developed 'Drawing Race,' a co-op game where family members work together to complete a drawing. The judges highly praised the team for naturally incorporating the game jam's theme into family-oriented cooperative play.

Kim Hyeong-jun formed the 'Dreamers' team with students from HKU (Netherlands), the University of Tokyo (Japan), Jeonju University, and Dongyang University to create 'Animal Drummers,' a two-player cooperative rhythm game, earning him the Jeonju University Immersive Media Center Director's Award.

"The process of constantly communicating with international students and incorporating a global sensibility into the game served as an opportunity to broaden my perspective as a game developer," said Kim Seong-eun.
