League of Legends (LoL) is turning back the clock: 'League Classic' was unveiled for the first time on the stage of the 2026 MSI Finals.
On the 12nd, Riot Games unveiled 'League Classic' ahead of the 2026 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) finals, held at the Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) Exhibition Hall 2 in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. Ten legendary players who have left their mark on the history of LoL esports appeared to face off in a League Classic match.
'League Classic,' which recreates a past version of LoL, is a 'best-of' collection based on Season 3 that condenses the most enjoyable content from the game's early days. It aims to stir nostalgia by reviving 60 classic champions that had disappeared following various nerfs and reworks. Beyond the diverse champion roster, the mode also features long-removed items, as well as legacy versions of runes and masteries.

Retired legendary players were invited to participate in the League Classic event match. The lineup included internationally renowned stars like Vayne's father 'Doublelift,' the sergeant 'Levi,' and WE legend 'Weixiao,' as well as LCK icons such as 'Ambition' Kang Chan-yong, 'Pawn' Heo Won-seok, and 'Captain Jack' Kang Hyung-woo.
The match drew attention from the pick-ban phase, featuring pre-rework versions of Karthus, Amumu, Alistar, Skarner, and Kassadin, and ultimately ended in a victory for Team Baron, which included 'Ambition' and 'Doublelift.' Although Team Dragon took an early lead thanks to 'Levi's' still-sharp ganking, Team Baron secured a comeback win fueled by 'Doublelift's' Vayne, who was bolstered by 'Weixiao's' Lulu,
League Classic is set to launch on live servers alongside Patch 26.15 on July 30 (KST).
