As someone who absolutely loves both Pokémon and LEGO, I feel so out of the loop. How did I miss all this news.
Honestly, I was really disappointed with the three most recent Pokémon LEGO releases. I'm sure plenty of fans bought and enjoyed them, but personally, none of them were my style. I’d just been waiting around, thinking, "I wonder when the next ones will drop."
Then I remembered the announcement I covered at CES 2026 earlier this year about 'Smart LEGO' featuring new tech, so I looked it up—and wow. All the Pokémon were here. They’re even cuter than the previous three sets and designed for much more interactive play. There are a whopping 10 different sets. I think I saw a few more on other international sites, but I could only confirm 10 on the official international LEGO store.

Of course, nothing can beat the sheer, overwhelming grandeur of the 6838-piece 'Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise (72153)' (that’s the actual product name), but these Smart Play sets seem much more fun to actually play with. It makes sense now why LEGO and Pokémon would collaborate, and why LEGO would suddenly show up at the world's largest IT expo to confidently announce, "We're introducing Smart Bricks." They clearly had this up their sleeve.
However, there's no word yet on a domestic release in Korea. Since the Star Wars series—which could be considered the bundle sets for these Smart Bricks—isn't distributed here either, it's hard to gauge the chances. That said, it shouldn't be a huge problem, as you can always buy them through direct overseas shipping or purchasing agencies. It looks like the international release is scheduled for August 1st.
Another catch is that, aside from what appear to be the main sets, 'Pikachu's Training House' and 'Charizard vs. Jolteon's Ultimate Battle,' the other sets don't seem to include the Smart Bricks. It sounds like you have to buy them separately if you want to use the interactive features. Still, there are so many LEGO fans in Korea, so I really hope we can see these here soon. For now, let's at least enjoy them through these photos.
