The new ecosystem of 'Monster Hunter Wilds' is expanding into the skies.
As the title of this expansion suggests, the primary new setting is a collection of 'Sky Islands' floating in the air. Hunters will use their trusty mount, the 'Seikret,' to leap dynamically between these floating landmasses, allowing for three-dimensional exploration.
The 1-minute and 41-second trailer showcased an evolved combat system and a diverse lineup of monsters. New monsters that hunt in packs to pressure the hunter heightened the tension of the hunt, while the trailer also featured the menacing presence of the series' iconic Elder Dragon, Kushala Daora. Fans erupted in cheers as the video captured the grand return of the massive Elder Dragon Lao-Shan Lung, which had been absent from the main series for some time.
New equipment that adds a fresh twist to combat is also being introduced. In the video, a hunter utilizes a new arm-mounted device to unleash a relentless barrage of fire on monsters while moving at high speed. This is expected to be a core system that brings increased speed and firepower to the series' signature hunting action.
Set in the Sky Islands, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is scheduled for release in 2027 and will be available on the same platforms as Monster Hunter Wilds: PS5, Xbox, and PC (Steam).
