The international trailer for Director Na Hong-jin's new film 'Hope', which was officially invited to the competition section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival, has been released.
Plus M Entertainment unveiled the international trailer for Director Na Hong-jin's new film 'Hope' via its official YouTube channel on the 18th. In the video, you can see Hopo Port thrown into chaos by an unidentified entity, the main actors, and the alien characters that have been shrouded in mystery until now. The story of Hope begins with Beom-seok, the head of the Hopo Port branch office located in the Demilitarized Zone, facing an unbelievable reality as the entire village goes on high alert after hearing from local youths that a tiger has appeared. The trailer reveals various action scenes, including car chases, gunfights, and pursuits, along with glimpses of villagers such as Branch Office Head Beom-seok (played by Hwang Jung-min), the village youth Seong-gi (played by Jo In-sung), and Constable Seong-ae (played by Jung Ho-yeon). Overall, the video stands out for its high tension and distinctive color palette. The alien characters were also revealed for the first time through this video. The aliens appearing in the film were played by Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, Taylor Russell, and Cameron Britton.
Meanwhile, Hope was officially invited to the competition section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival, which runs until May 23 in Cannes, France, and was unveiled as a world premiere through an official screening on the 17th (local time). Domestic and international media reported that Hope received a standing ovation for about seven minutes immediately after the screening, and that extreme reviews are continuing. Currently, Hope has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 80%, with 20 reviews written.
'Hope,' the new film by Director Na Hong-jin, who directed films such as The Chaser, The Yellow Sea, and The Wailing, is scheduled to be released in theaters in the summer of 2026.
