NCSoft announced today (the 19th) that it has unveiled the key visual and world-building details for 'Astrae Oratio,' a new subculture 'divine chronicle' RPG developed by Dynamis One and slated for publication by NCSoft, via its official social media channels.
The newly released key visual depicts a scene from the 'Divine Trial,' a dueling judgment held between wizards in the game. According to a teaser released on May 7, it is a tradition in the world of 'Astrae Oratio' for wizards to resolve disputes through these dueling trials. The visual shows a girl in white robes and a wizard in black robes facing off in preparation for a duel, with dialogue added that seems to address both the user watching the scene and the opponent, heightening the sense of immersion.

Along with the key visual, additional terminology from the game's world, 'Clais' and 'Artifact,' was introduced. 'Clais' refers to staff-like magical tools, derived from the Ancient Greek word for 'key.' In the story, they serve as the most fundamental equipment for casting magic and symbolize a wizard's status. 'Artifacts' are tools that can be used after entering the 'other world' via a Clais, assisting users in wielding magic that would otherwise be inaccessible. The announcement also mentioned 'Hecate,' the first wizard and the origin of magic, hinting at the narrative direction to come.
While it has not yet been revealed how these settings will be implemented in actual gameplay, given their use in similar titles, these elements are expected to play a significant role in character progression and stat management.
'Astrae Oratio' is a new title set in 1889 Tokyo, where magic has accelerated the pace of development beyond that of actual history. The player takes on the role of an ordinary local government official who catches the eye of Hiwagi Shiakari Ai, the director of the Special District Bureau that manages wizards. Appointed as a chief at the bureau, the player builds relationships with wizards while handling administrative tasks and resolving disputes across Tokyo's 23 wards. Currently, a teaser PV, character introductions for the protagonist and two others, and an overview of the world have been released, with more information to be updated via official social media and YouTube channels in the future.
