In the 2026 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) regular season Round 1 match held at LoL PARK in Jongno on the 10th, Dplus KIA defeated Gen.G Esports 2-0. It was a precious victory, marking their first win against Gen.G in approximately five years, ending a staggering 21-match losing streak.
The first turning point of Game 1 came around the 18-minute mark during Gen.G's attempt at their third dragon. While both junglers seemed to narrowly escape, 'Chovy' Jung Ji-hun's Ryze landed a predictive Q to finish off 'Lucid' Choi Yong-hyeok's Jarvan IV over the wall. Gen.G capitalized on the ensuing skirmish, picking up two additional kills, with 'Canyon' Kim Geon-bu's Pantheon showing incredible survivability.
However, Dplus KIA's counterattack was fierce. They won a teamfight while defending the dragon soul and even managed to steal the dragon itself. 'Career' Oh Hyeong-seok's Bard opened the fight perfectly with his ultimate, which also secured the steal. In a subsequent mid teamfight, they wiped out four members of Gen.G, starting with a Pantheon who had overextended. After resetting, Dplus KIA marched into the bottom lane, easily breached Gen.G's thin defenses, and destroyed the Nexus.
Game 2 was equally intense. Dplus KIA and Gen.G traded blows, with Dplus KIA finding success in the top lane and Gen.G in the bottom, keeping the game deadlocked. 'Canyon's' Xin Zhao created several highlight plays, including a dragon steal and a pick on the fed 'Siwoo' Jeon Si-woo's Renekton. Dplus KIA responded by winning a mid teamfight and catching out 'Duro' Ju Min-gyu's Seraphine. Both teams split the dragons, taking two each.
Around the 29-minute mark, Dplus KIA made a bold call to rush Baron instead of contesting the third dragon. Gen.G arrived faster than expected, and in the chaos, 'Kiin's' Jayce solo-killed 'ShowMaker' Heo Su's Annie. Gen.G also took down 'Lucid's' Wukong in the main engagement. Yet, Dplus KIA did not back down. They turned the tables on Gen.G as they pressured the bottom lane with the Baron buff, securing a massive victory by capitalizing on the late arrival of 'Chovy's' Aurora.
During the fight for Gen.G's Infernal Soul, Renekton dove deep into the enemy backline to lock down 'Ruler' Park Jae-hyuk's Jhin, who had no Flash, and Wukong finished the job. After taking down both Xin Zhao and Jayce, Dplus KIA pushed into the bottom lane, destroyed one of the nexus turrets, and briefly retreated. After resetting, they ambushed Gen.G as they pushed through the mid lane, sweeping them in a one-sided fight. With that, Dplus KIA took the second game and secured the series victory.
