League of Legends Champions Korea will partner with South Korea’s Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs on a weeklong campaign marking the 80th anniversary of liberation, the league said Tuesday. The program, set for Aug. 13–17 at LoL PARK in Jongno-gu’s Gran Seoul complex, will feature on-site activities, commemorative displays and limited-edition merchandise for attendees.

The campaign aims to encourage fans to reflect on the sacrifices of independence activists and uniformed service members while inviting younger audiences to engage through participatory events. Visitors to the LCK Arena can take part in “Light Gathering as One,” writing words or phrases associated with liberation for a public installation. Additional giveaways will be available to fans who verify visits to national independence-related memorial sites through the “Walking Along the Traces of Light” activity. Promotional videos produced with creators will run throughout the venue during the week.

Organizers said the initiative, held under the slogan “Shining Footsteps, New Paths,” is designed as an accessible cultural program. Other components include “Stories Crafted with Light,” with experiences centered on remembrance and gratitude. LoL PARK will adopt a liberation-themed look during the run of events.

The LCK and the ministry signed a business agreement in 2024 and have collaborated on appreciation efforts during the 2024 LCK Summer season, including designated seating for uniformed service members and families, informational booths, influencer-led video content, public service messages during live broadcasts, in-game uniform-themed skin codes, campaign merchandise sales and donations tied to proceeds.

League officials said they hope to broaden awareness of veterans affairs among esports audiences during one of the LCK’s busiest stretches. The 2025 LCK season runs April–September, with two matches per day from Wednesday to Sunday at the LCK Arena. Rounds three through five are split between the Legend and Rise groups. Matches stream on platforms including the LCK YouTube channel, SOOP, and Naver Esports & Game. On-site tickets are sold via the Woori Bank WON Banking app and Interpark, with reservations opening 52 hours and 48 hours before match start, respectively.
