"Heroes is a great game, but at the end of the day I don’t believe it is my true calling." - Arthelon retires, looks to stream full-time

Today, September 5th, NA Heroes of the Storm veteran Taylor "Arthelon" Eder has announced his retirement from HeroesHearth and Heroes of the Storm competitive play. Before HeroesHearth, Arthelon was most well known for playing on the original Tempo Storm roster during their dominating hot-streak over the entire Western competitive scene in 2015. It was only after a 0-3 defeat against MVP Black during MSI Masters 2015 that the fall from grace of tempo Storm and the entire NA Region would begin.

From there, Arthelon played for Cloud 9 before ultimately taking a nearly 2-year break from the competitive scene. His return with the Open Division team Buttered Toast and the eventual sponsorship of HeroesHearth was a massive success, with many some NA players recently describing HeroesHearth as "the only NA team" that hasn't dropped in skill since the previous international competition.

Other goals

But, despite HeroesHearth being the "best team" he has ever been on, Arthelon has other plans. Mentioning the desire to stream and even play Dota 2 competitively, in a blog post posted on the official Heroes Hearth website, Arthelon describes his reasons for retiring frankly:

"I have other things I want to accomplish in life, and I felt that it was unfair to my team and the potential BlizzCon trip for me to be there and not be putting in full effort. With this in mind, I am leaving mid-season in hopes it helps the team out by getting someone who loves the game and is more motivated"

"Heroes is a great game, but at the end of the day I don’t believe it is my true calling. This is potentially a final farewell from me, but who knows where I will end up in the future. "

HeroesHearth does have a few weeks to find a replacement player, but it can't be good for the rosters synergy to lose such a key player. Arthelon is known for his mechanical ability on ranged assassins and, although a quiet player who usually doesn't add much to comms, it will still be a challenge for HeroesHearth to get a new player full up-to-speed in time for BlizzCon.
