'Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era,' a turn-based strategy RPG with a rock-solid, long-standing fanbase, has launched into early access and is currently available at a 25% discount.

The Heroes of Might and Magic series debuted in 1995 from New World Computing and was officially released in Korea under the title 'Might and Magic Heroes.' Known for its deep game systems and compelling faction dynamics, the series saw a steady stream of sequels. The third installment, released in 1999, was a massive hit and is still widely considered the best in the series.

While the HOMM series continued to evolve, it faced criticism starting with 'MMH6'—the second title released by Ubisoft after it acquired the IP following the dissolution of New World Computing—and the 2015 release 'MMH7' was unable to escape a similar reception.

Furthermore, the upcoming 'Olden Era' seems to reject the series' recent wandering, positioning itself as a successor closer in spirit to the third installment—widely considered the best in the series. The development team has focused on meeting the needs of long-time fans, notably by bringing on Jon Van Caneghem, the former executive producer at New World Computing. The game returns to the setting of the planet Enroth and serves as a prequel, taking place hundreds of years before the events of the series' first title.

'Olden Era' released a demo late last year, which received a 'Mostly Positive' rating with 75% positive reviews. With its early access launch on April 30, the game is also now available on Xbox Game Pass, allowing subscribers to jump in and play immediately.
