The Cyberpunk TCG, developed by tabletop studio WeirdCo in collaboration with CD Projekt Red (CDPR) based on the original game, concluded its Kickstarter campaign on the 17th (local time) with over $26 million raised, cementing its place in crowdfunding history.
The project features a deck-building structure similar to traditional TCGs like Magic: The Gathering, while incorporating a card system reflecting the Night City universe and a unique combat mechanic where players win by collecting six or more 'Geek Dice' that appear each turn. The game brings to life iconic characters familiar to fans from the game and anime, including V, Johnny Silverhand, David Martinez, and Lucy (Lucyna Kushinada), alongside various elements from the lore. The project also drew significant attention for featuring artwork from artists who have worked on titles such as Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Disney Lorcana, and Marvel Snap.
While there was initial skepticism regarding the success of a Cyberpunk-themed TCG, the actual Kickstarter funding grew at an unprecedented pace. It surpassed its initial $100,000 goal within five minutes of launch, and on the 1st, it overtook the $15.15 million raised by the Cosmere RPG—based on Brandon Sanderson’s novel universe—to become the #1 crowdfunded game on Kickstarter. By the end of the campaign, the Cyberpunk TCG had exceeded $26 million. Although the main campaign has ended, late pledges continue to roll in; as of the 19th, the total funding has surpassed $27.26 million (approximately ₩40 billion) with over 48,500 backers.

The Cyberpunk TCG, now the top-funded game on Kickstarter, ranks third overall, trailing only the UPmake home UV printer and Brandon Sanderson’s unpublished novel bundle. With over $10 million more than the previous record-holder, the Cosmere RPG, it is expected to hold the top spot in the games category for some time. For context, in the video game hardware category, the OUYA console previously raised $8.59 million, while in video game software, Shenmue 3 holds the record at $6.33 million, followed by Bloodstained at $5.54 million.
High-tier backers who pledged $375 or more are scheduled to receive their rewards in the third quarter of this year, with remaining backers receiving theirs sequentially starting in the fourth quarter. Beyond the TCG, the Cyberpunk universe is set to expand further with the arcade racing game 'Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome Rush' and the board game 'Cyberpunk: Edgerunners - Haunted,' based on the anime series.
