'Lenovo Legion' has become a brand with such strong recognition that it is impossible to talk about gaming laptops without mentioning it. Regardless of the specs, the series is known for its excellent value, overwhelming performance, and designs that are gaming-oriented without being overly aggressive. Above all, its segmented lineup, tailored to various user budgets and needs, seems to have been the key to its popularity.
The Legion series has consistently delivered solid fundamentals and excellent cooling performance with every generation. This time, it has evolved further by incorporating the latest hardware trends: AI and the RTX 50 series graphics cards. The 'Lenovo Legion 7i' is a premium AI gaming laptop equipped with Intel's latest Core Ultra processor and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 series. While its impressive specs stand out, its white finish—a rare choice for gaming laptops—is also highly appealing.

Intel Ultra 9 + RTX 5070: A configuration that dominates the QHD gaming environment
The Lenovo Legion 7i used for this review was configured with the highest available options. I want to highlight first that there is a wide variety of options for the CPU, GPU, memory, SSD, and display to suit different budgets and purposes.
For the CPU, you can choose from the Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX PLUS, Ultra 9 275HX, or Ultra 7 255HX. GPU options include the RTX 5070 12GB, RTX 5070 8GB, and RTX 5060 8GB. Memory options include 32GB 6400MT/s (16GB x2), 32GB 5600MT/s (16GB x2), or 16GB 5600MT/s (single). For the SSD, you can choose between a 2TB (1TB x 1TB) or a 1TB model.
There are two display options: both are 16-inch WQXGA OLED (2560 x 1600) panels with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 500 nits of brightness, and a response time of less than 1ms. The difference lies in the refresh rate, with a choice between 240Hz and 165Hz.
While it might look like a mid-range gaming laptop on paper, that is just a technicality; this level of performance is more than enough for QHD gaming. Personally, I have been looking for a gaming laptop with some weight to it, and if this had fallen within my target price range, I would have bought it without hesitation. While it is true that prices seem physically higher due to global semiconductor demand, it is undeniably a product with excellent price-to-performance value.

Lenovo's thermal technology, 'Legion Coldfront: Hyper', and excellent expandability
The fate of high-performance portable devices ultimately comes down to 'thermal management.' To maintain the product's peak performance, superior heat dissipation is essential. The Legion 7i utilizes 'Legion Coldfront: Hyper', Lenovo's cutting-edge cooling solution that organically combines powerful turbo fans, 3D heat pipes, and AI-based thermal management.
Thanks to this, even during long sessions of high-spec gaming, the heat felt on the keyboard deck is well-suppressed, ensuring a comfortable experience. It also supports three performance modes—Quiet, Balanced, and Performance—which can be toggled instantly with a hotkey to respond to different situations.
For a 16-inch laptop, it boasts a reasonable weight of under 2kg, making it suitable for users who want high specs but also need portability. It offers a generous selection of ports, including USB Type-C, Type-A, and HDMI 2.1, making it easy to connect various peripherals. However, personally, I did miss the inclusion of a LAN port for a product of this caliber.

Overwhelming computing power delivered by 798 AI TOPS
In an era where AI computing is becoming increasingly important for gamers and general users alike, it is worth noting that the device supports up to 798 AI TOPS. This provides hardware-level support not only for professional tasks like generative AI and 3D modeling but also for practical convenience features for gamers.
It would be a mistake to think this is irrelevant just because you don't use specific AI programs. For example, the Lenovo AI Core chip and Lenovo AI Engine+ inside the laptop analyze power availability and thermal conditions in real-time based on your gameplay. In large-scale skirmishes where frame drops might occur, it automatically optimizes GPU and CPU power to maintain high frame rates, while maximizing battery efficiency when power consumption needs to be reduced. It is no longer premature to say that AI computing power is a key feature for a great laptop.
Additionally, the dedicated 'Legion Space' software allows for gameplay setting customization and analysis, as well as features like Game Clip Master and Game Companion, enabling a more advanced and future-oriented gaming life.

The 240Hz OLED PureSight display that delights the eyes
In 2026, there are two things that anyone interested in gaming laptops will definitely consider: QHD resolution and 32GB of memory. The Lenovo Legion 7i supports both, but the part I want to emphasize is the 16-inch WQXGA (2560×1600) PureSight OLED display.
With excellent image quality, support for up to 240Hz variable refresh rate (VRR), and a response time of less than 1ms, I could enjoy gameplay without any ghosting, even in fast-paced FPS games. Furthermore, with 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, 500 nits of brightness, and VESA True Black 1k certification, the shadow detail in AAA package games and cinematic videos was truly a treat to watch.
The sound environment is another factor that cannot be overlooked. The Lenovo Legion 7i is equipped with two 2W speakers featuring Harman audio and Nahimic technology, allowing for immersive sound play even without a headset.

Conclusion: If you're buying a gaming laptop with expectations, this is the level you should aim for!
Human greed knows no bounds. You start by thinking, "Do I need a laptop? Maybe ₩1.5 million is enough?" but as you search, you keep adding things. You want a QHD display, it should be light, the CPU should be at least a mainstream 7-series, and you can't compromise on the latest RTX 50 graphics... and 32GB of memory and a 1TB SSD are standard now, right?
As mentioned earlier, I am also currently considering buying a gaming laptop. When I looked at the price tag of a product that met all my personal requirements, it was at least ₩7 million. Since my needs are specific, I should be cutting out non-essential options, but that is easier said than done. However, I realized while writing this review that the conditions I set for "this is what I should buy" perfectly describe the Lenovo Legion 7i.
Of course, I don't need such high specs right away, and more importantly, my wallet isn't deep enough, so I'll have to compromise on something to choose the Legion 7i. Above all, it is painful to see how the surge in semiconductor demand is affecting consumer components.
I can confidently recommend the Lenovo Legion 7i to anyone looking for a gaming laptop with mid-to-high-end performance. I especially recommend it to people in small households who need one laptop to freely switch between work, daily life, and gaming. And as I've mentioned repeatedly, the fact that it's a beautiful white gaming laptop—a rarity in the market—also plays a big part.
