Before it became one with Com2uS, Gamevil boasted a trio of mobile gaming giants: the 'Zenonia' series, 'Com2uS Pro Baseball', and the 'Nom' series. The first entry in the Zenonia series, originally titled 'Zenonia: Thread of Memory', has now been listed on Steam as 'Zenonia 1'.
Released in August 2008, Zenonia 1 was originally available for a data fee of ₩3,000. Marketed with the catchphrase 'Reality Action RPG', the game successfully adapted to the smartphone era and gained further popularity through ports for the Nintendo DS and PSP.
The success of the first Zenonia paved the way for a long-running franchise that eventually spanned five numbered titles and four spin-offs, totaling nine games. However, as time passed, the series faded; the original Zenonia 1 service was terminated on December 19, 2014, leaving it unplayable except through console versions or direct APK downloads.
The version of Zenonia 1 listed on Steam remains fundamentally the same as the original, though it features updated graphics and UI. Players can develop the protagonist, 'Regret', into one of three classes: the balanced 'Warrior', the high-defense 'Paladin', or the high-damage 'Assassin'. The game also features a day/night cycle that changes over time and a good/evil alignment system that shifts based on player choices.
The release date and pricing for Zenonia 1 have not yet been announced.
