It’s nothing new to see a sports star enjoy gaming. There are many players who have spoken in interviews about how they enjoy playing console or mobile games. There are even players who try really hard in real-life games to make their in-game stats better.
Most of the time, players enjoy games that are related to their field, but not all of them do. On the 14th of February, Betway esports revealed an unusual matchup. The video was a collaborative event between English Premier League’s Westham United FC and the EU esports team Ninjas in Pyjamas. The video got over 140,000 views, and in it, Betway Esports Challenge showed the FPS skills of two football players.
The first challenge was with Javier Hernández Balcázar (Chicharito) and Michail Gregory Antonio playing CS:GO with instructions from Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg and Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Alesund. The two players hadn’t played any games other than the FIFA series and were frustrated at the unfamiliar controls at first, but after a short time, they were ready to take on the challenge.
With BBC presenter OJ Borg, Chicharito and Antonio started off the 1v1 match. They started off quite even with the score of 1-1 and it seemed as if the match would become a close one. However, Chicharito seemed to somehow unlock his hidden CS:GO potential. It was as if his precise goal shots on the Mexican National team transferred into the virtual world, as his shots in CS:GO were very accurate. From 1-1, he scored 10 more to take victory at 11-1 .
The CS:GO match ended with the Chicharito team’s victory, but in the following matchup of f0rest and GeT_RiGhT’s football challenge, the result may be different. The football match will be released on the 26th of February via betway esports Youtube channel. Meanwhile, betway esports is having an AWP Dragon Lore skin giveaway.
