GenCity claimed the championship honor by defeating T1 4:2 at the '2026 FC Online Team Battle' Spring Grand Finals held at Jamsil DN Colosseum on the 19th. Although they started by losing the first two sets in a row, following the victory of 'Solid' Im Tae-san, 'Krong' Hwang Se-jong and 'Wonder08' Go Won-jae took three consecutive wins, securing the championship with a 3-0 record.
The following is the full text of the championship interview with Coach Park Se-young and 'Wonder08' Go Won-jae. Q. You have achieved a three-peat victory at the FTB. What are your thoughts on winning? Coach Park Se-young: We won twice last year. I wanted to achieve another good result and carry that momentum into international competitions to produce a great outcome. The games went well according to our plan, and I feel great because what we practiced paid off. 'Wonder08': Since we won twice last year, I was confident even before the tournament started. Things didn't go as planned in the beginning, but as the games progressed, we found our direction. I am happy to have won. Q. Your individual skills are good, but it feels like you are especially strong in team matches. Coach Park Se-young: Since team matches are played together, it is very important for the team to unite as one. A new foreign player named 'GPJ' joined this year; he is very cheerful, and the team members were able to become even more united as he was eager to learn. Also, since good results come when players play with confidence, I often talk to them to boost their self-confidence. Q. The beginning wasn't easy. You lost the first two sets in a row. How did you try to overcome that? Coach Park Se-young: Since we were the first to advance, we needed time to get our rhythm back as we were playing against an opponent who had just won their previous match. It wasn't so much that the opponent was good, but rather that our performance didn't match up as we had practiced. So, the players all knew that things would work out well if we just did what we needed to do, and we talked about that a lot. Q. (To 'Wonder08') You must have needed time to compose yourself after finishing as runner-up in the individual competition. 'Wonder08': I was upset, but since there are still tournaments left, the time I spent feeling upset was short. Since I was disappointed to finish as runner-up, my desire to show more in the remaining tournaments grew stronger. I think overcoming the aftermath of the runner-up finish and approaching the competition well had a positive impact on winning. Q. (To 'Wonder08') How would you rate your performance in this tournament? 'Wonder08': I think I would give myself about 70 to 80 out of 100. Points were deducted because there were matches where I lost due to failing to perform exactly as I should have. Is there a match you think was decisive in your victory? 'Wonder08': Since 'Solid' Im Tae-san is a rookie, he faced difficulties and had many areas to improve. However, I could really feel throughout the tournament that he didn't let that discourage him and actively tried to accept feedback. I think he played his role well at crucial moments. Coach Park Se-young: 'Solid' struggled a lot during practice. He took the mound today after losing the first two sets in a row, but he did an excellent job of lifting the team's spirits (by winning). Q. How does it feel to go from competing as a player to serving as a coach? Coach Park Se-young: Actually, since I was the captain last year and worked with the younger players now, there weren't that many significant differences. However, I focused on helping the newly joined player, 'GPJ,' adapt. Also, because 'Solid' is a rookie who is a bit older, I thought he might have a hard time among the skilled younger players, so I talked to him a lot personally. Q. What areas need improvement for international competitions? Coach Park Se-young: To achieve good results in tournaments, a large amount of practice is required. If the players continue to practice hard like they are now and prepare for international competitions with the mindset that they will reach the finals, I think things will go well. 'Wonder08': Actually, even when I'm not playing, I think about the game all day long. I think the reason we lost the previous two matches was that I was thinking too much, which actually prevented me from doing what I should have done. I think I need to reduce my thinking a bit and play with confidence. Q. (To 'Wonder08') The scene where you roared after scoring the last goal today was impressive. It seems you have changed a lot outside of the game this year as well. 'Wonder08': I wouldn't have done it normally, but I did it because I was certain the game was completely over (laughs). As for the difference from last year, since I am the captain this season, rather than staying quiet like last year, I tried to boost the team members' morale and liven up the atmosphere. It seems to suit my aptitude. Q. What are your goals for international competitions? 'Wonder08': Since we won the Masters last year, our goal is to win again this time. However, I want to achieve victory by climbing one step at a time, perfectly step by step. Coach Park Se-young: Since we lost in the finals held in China last year, lifting a trophy overseas is our team's goal and wish. To do so, we need to prepare well. Lastly, do you have anything you'd like to say? Coach Park Se-young: I think the environment has improved this year. I would like to thank all the staff at the team. Also, since we are with Manchester City, I would like to thank the Manchester City officials as well. Furthermore, I believe we exist because of the fans who support us. We will work harder to repay you with good performance. 'Wonder08': I am very grateful to the Gen.G management. I am thankful to my teammates, and I am truly grateful to my family, friends, and fans who have supported us.
