The 'Marvel's Spider-Man' series has seen a notable surge in concurrent players on Steam. Following the record-breaking release of the film 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' on the 31st of last month, the three games based on the same IP, developed by Insomniac Games, are enjoying renewed attention.

According to Steam data, 'Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered,' 'Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales,' and 'Marvel's Spider-Man 2' all saw an increase in concurrent players over the past weekend. 'Remastered' reached approximately 16k players on Sunday, its highest figure since its PC launch in 2022, while 'Spider-Man 2' climbed to about 12k during the same period. Sales metrics have also shifted, with both titles landing at 6th and 9th place on Steam's global top sellers list. On the PlayStation Store, 'Spider-Man 2' has also risen into the top 30 bestsellers.

The film's performance shattered records during its opening weekend. 'Brand New Day' grossed $360M in North America, surpassing the $357.1M set by 2019's 'Avengers: Endgame' to claim the top spot for the highest-grossing opening weekend in North American history. Its global total reached $932M, ranking second in that category behind 'Endgame's' $1.2B. In South Korea, the film generated $2.4M in IMAX opening revenue, setting a new record for the highest IMAX opening in the Korean market.

However, it is too early to attribute the games' upward trend solely to the movie's success. All three titles have been on sale for up to 60% off on Steam and the Epic Games Store since the 30th of last month, meaning the release of the film and the start of the sales period overlap significantly. The Steam sale runs until the 7th, while the PlayStation Store sale continues until the 12nd.

Insomniac Games is currently developing 'Marvel's Wolverine,' also based on Marvel Comics, which is scheduled for release on PS5 on September 15.
