Nexon unveils Dungeon & Fighter Idle, Dungeon & Fighter Classic and wider franchise pipeline

At its Capital Markets Briefing (CMB) held in Tokyo on the 31st, Nexon revealed the development status of two new titles in the Dungeon & Fighter franchise.

First, Dungeon & Fighter Idle is currently being prepared with the goal of launching within this year. Like MapleStory Idle, it is positioned as a casual, highly accessible experience, and is intended to bring new and light users into the franchise in addition to its existing core audience.

Dungeon & Fighter Classic is a revival title based on the 2009 version of the game. While preserving the action feel of the original, it updates the UI and UX for a more modern experience, and is targeting a 2027 release.

Speaking about the Dungeon & Fighter franchise strategy, CEO Junghun Lee said, “From a platform standpoint, we are simultaneously pursuing expansion across PC, console, and mobile; from a genre standpoint, diversification ranging from classic side-scrolling action to hardcore action, open-world RPGs, and idle games; and from a regional standpoint, expansion beyond Korea and China into the global market.” He continued, “Our core objective is to apply MapleStory’s successful formula to Dungeon & Fighter, further energising core users while expanding the overall franchise through new games and experiences that can attract new users.”

Meanwhile, in addition to Dungeon & Fighter Idle and Dungeon & Fighter Classic, Nexon also unveiled a pipeline of six upcoming titles at the CMB, including Project OVERKILL, Dungeon & Fighter: Arad, Vindictus: Defying Fate, and the new IP NAKWON. Official English materials already use renderings such as Vindictus: Defying Fate, NAKWON, and Junghun Lee, while the three DNF titles here appear to be working or inferred English renderings rather than formally announced global titles.
