Team Vitality announced Thursday that South Korean Tekken 8 professional Jeon “Jeondding” Sang-hyun has renewed his contract with the French esports organization through 2030, marking one of the longest player commitments in the fighting game community to date.
The renewal comes on the heels of Jeondding’s strong showing at the 2025 Esports World Cup, where he placed fourth against a stacked international roster. The result reaffirmed his reputation as one of Tekken’s most consistent and respected competitors, earning praise from fans and peers alike for both his technical mastery and sportsmanship.
Danny Engels, Team Vitality’s Corporate Director of Global Operations, praised the renewal as a sign of mutual trust and long-term ambition. “Securing such a long-term commitment in esports is something truly special, and it speaks volumes about the absolute trust we have in Jeondding, both as a player and as a person,” Engels said in a statement. “His attitude, dedication, and the way he embodies the DNA of Team Vitality make this partnership feel natural and inspiring. We’re thrilled to continue building this journey together and excited to see all the milestones he will achieve with us in the years ahead.”
Looking Ahead to EVO Nice
Jeondding’s new contract underscores Team Vitality’s growing investment in the fighting game scene, a space the organization has steadily expanded into in recent years. The move also signals its confidence in Jeondding’s ability to remain a top contender as Tekken 8’s competitive landscape evolves.
Fans won’t have to wait long to see the veteran in action. Jeondding is set to compete next at EVO Nice, taking place Oct. 10–12 in France. For both the player and the organization, the event carries added significance, as Team Vitality continues to solidify its presence on home soil.
With his contract now secured for the next five years, Jeondding’s focus remains on representing Team Vitality at the highest level — and on achieving the organization’s long-term goal of becoming the best fighting game club in the world.
