Since its launch on August 27th, 2019, World of Warcraft Classic has acted as a triumphant reset for the WoW gaming universe. Players can now go back to the original game, and everyone is starting their respective new-old-new journeys as equals. Everyone starts at level 1 with default low level and stats, armor and items, and 0 WoW Classic currency.
This is a great and unique experience in some ways, but players are really starting to feel the pressure of getting that WoW Classic Gold in order to buy their first mount when they hit level 40. In addition, players spend gold repairing gear and learning spells that get progressively more expensive.. In order to get this much-needed Gold, players can either go the WoW Classic Gold buy online route or maximum their WoWC Gold making in the game.
What is Old is New Again
At the onset of Classic WoW, many players seemed determined to leave add-ons behind, believing it would detract from the real Vanilla experience. Of course, add-ons did exist in Vanilla, but they weren’t around at the launch of the game. Many players never got around to installing them until the game’s later phases, or even later expansions.
If you’ve started your World of Warcraft Classic journey and are missing add-ons, which can help you in Azeroth, then look no further. This guide is designed to show you how to install all the addons you love in retail onto your World of Warcraft Classic game.
Installing Add-Ons Through Twitch
To install add-ons for WoW Classic via Twitch, you need to download the Twitch app if you don’t already have it installed on your computer. Once the app is installed, open it and login or create an account. Once in the app, go to the mods section and click on World of Warcraft; this will bring up all of the WoW addons. By default, the page will show you addons for the retail version of the game and WoW Classic all in one.
You’ll also notice that there is a column for 'Game Version”' which should tell you which patch that Addon has been released for. In order to only bring up Classic WoW addons, you need to go to the box in the right corner of the app and make sure the game selected is '/Applications/World of Warcraft/_classic_/, rather than /Applications/World of Warcraft/_retail_/'.
If you can’t find the Classic WoW version of the file path, then Twitch isn’t registering that you have Classic WoW installed. Don’t worry, there’s an easy fix to this. Simply click on the cog symbol next to the box and when the drop-down menu appears, click 'Scan for installed games'. Once the scan is complete, you will be able to select Classic WoW as an option and get busy installing your add-ons.
The benefit of using Twitch over manually installing the add-ons is that you can see which add-ons are popular, and use that information to gauge whether you could benefit from its utilization. Twitch will also prompt you when an addon needs updating and all you have to do is push a button and the update will be installed.
WoW Classic recently spent 11 days as the top game on Twitch. The diversity in choices and possibilities of the facelifted WoW Classic has exceeded the expectations of all, potentially including Blizzard themselves.
While nostalgia is the main bond that is tethering players from all different communities back to a bedrock of MMORPG gameplay, the Twitch Add-ons availability to players allows for even more choices on how one can dive back into Azeroth through the time portal that WoW classic has opened.
