Streamer Pokimane is hosting a $15,000 Teamfight Tactics tournament today

It seems like Teamfight Tactics is plunging in the world of esports quickly. Just three days after Twitch and Riot Games announced a $125,000 Twitch Rivals event for the League of Legends game mode, Twitch streamer Imane "Pokimane" Anys announced a big invitational tournament held today: Teamfight Tactics Thursday.

Hosted by Pokimane herself and casted by Kobe and TheeMarkZ, the tournament will consist of 16 popular streamers, all avid Teamfight Tactics players. Split across two groups the participants play multiple matches and earn money according to their placement in a given game. Side trophies include scoring points for putting on an entertaining show, being a good sport and other fun objectives. The total prize pool isn't too shabby: a total of $15,000 will be split amongst the players.

The tournament idea follows the example of Keemstar's Fortnite Fridays, which have become one of the fan favorite events in Fortnite's community. Though Pokimane's rendition of the format is a one-off for now, she has expressed the desire to invite more streamers should the tournament make a return.

Teamfight Tactics Thursday starts at 7 pm CEST / 10 am PST, and can be followed live on Pokimane's Twitch channel.
